With recent news about metals like arsenic, iron, and others being found in tampons, it's crucial to have a safer, easier alternative. This is one of many reasons why we designed the Pixie Disc Applicator, it make it easier for you, but also better for you!

How to Use the Pixie Disc Applicator

The Pixie Disc Applicator is designed to work seamlessly with Pixie Lube and the Pixie Menstrual Disc, but it’s also compatible with most disc brands like Nixit, Saalt, and even disposable options like Flex Discs. This compatibility gives you the freedom to choose the disc that best suits your needs without compromising on ease of use.

First things first, wash your hands! Cleanse your Disc Applicator with warm water and some Pixie Wash. DO NOT USE HIGH HEAT TO STERILIZE—this applicator is made from antibacterial medical-grade Mediprene, and high heat can damage it.

After washing your hands, add a dollop of lube to the inside of the disc applicator body. Spread the lube evenly to make the menstrual disc glide smoothly during insertion. I really recommend buying the Pixie Lube with this applicator; it will be difficult to use the disc applicator without some sort of lubricant.

Next, pinch the Pixie Disc and insert it into the body of the applicator. The rim of the menstrual disc should touch the base of the triangle when you insert it into the body of the applicator. Please see the photo below.

Note: If you’re using a larger menstrual disc, you might need to remove the plunger tip for more room. For smaller discs, thread the stem through the plunger tip.

Push the menstrual disc with the plunger until the disc sticks out of the tip a little bit, allowing you to grab the disc applicator with one hand. Place your index and middle fingers on the grips and your thumb at the end of the plunger.

Insert the disc applicator into your vaginal canal towards your tailbone, pushing the plunger until the menstrual disc is released. You might need to tuck the disc behind your pubic bone by pushing it up. Now your menstrual disc is inserted, and you should be able to go about your day with no leaks!

The Disc that Removes Like a Tampon

The Pixie Disc Applicator lets you insert a reusable period disc product like a tampon, but what about removal? Introducing the Pixie Disc, designed with a long stem for easy removal. Simply pull on the stem and—tada!—a no-hassle removal process, very similar to using a tampon string. You don’t have to worry about the Pixie Disc getting stuck or being difficult to reach, as it matches the length of your canal. It's worry-free removal, every time.
